About the Author

The Substitute Wife – Part Three

Opening my eyes in the darkness, I looked over at the alarm clock to see that it was 4:13 in the morning.

I’d adapted to my husband’s wake-up time of 4:15 to the point that I now woke a few minutes before the alarm. Reaching over and turning it off, I momentarily rolled back into Hank’s strong arms. His hairy forearms and biceps closed around my waist. The sound of his soft snoring filled my ears over the hum of the air conditioner. When we slept, he always held me tightly, just like this, and it was nothing short of heavenly. If I moved more than a couple of inches away from him at night, Hank would wake from the deepest of sleeps and reach for me. He had told me more than once that he’d be unable to sleep a wink without his arms around me.

How could you not love a man when he told you something like that?

Hank’s bulging arms, muscular chest, and gentle snoring always made me feel so safe and secure.

Now at thirty-nine, my husband, Hank was all the man that I ever needed or wanted. With a broad and muscular frame, he stood proudly at 6 foot, 5 inches. He had the sexiest chest, compelling blue eyes, and dark hair. On the other hand, I was blond, slender, and stood at only 5 foot, 8. And today, I would turn nineteen.

Our love story wasn’t a conventional one because Hank had been my stepfather. Although he still liked for me to call him Daddy sometimes, he was legally my husband in every way possible. After my no-good, white trash mother, Angie, had left me with Hank, I’d incorrectly thought that it was the end of the world… To my delight and relief, Hank had stepped up and taken care of me and we’d formed a close bond. Eventually, that bond became love and Hank had claimed me as his. Now, I was proudly Austin Ford.
