I’d just started to unlace my corset thingy when I heard the rumble of that secret door sliding. So I stopped and struck a pose at the window farthest from the stairs. Just to make him work for it a little. I wanted to watch the hunger in his eyes. His steps were silent but I felt his aura pulsing stronger in the air with every second. A pale hand poked out and snagged my gown off the floor.
There was a beat of silence then he leapt into view. His gaze swept the room slowly, searching for me until he spotted me across the room. His fangs sank into his bottom lip. His pulse beat in the vein in his throat. There was just enough light from the sky to see his cheeks flush and his eyes flash like a predator’s.
I propped one foot on the wall behind me and hiked my skirt up so my whole, bare leg was visible. His gaze drank in every inch of my skin. He let out a growl that made my toes curl. I dragged my teeth over my bottom lip. He took a step forward and reached to the side – and slid a curtain I hadn’t seen over the open window.
Then over the next.
And the next.
There were only three windows left, with me in the last one. But he kept dragging this giant curtain over each window. With each one, the room fell darker and darker until I couldn’t see him at all. My pulse quickened. Goosebumps covered my skin.
I was being hunted.
I was prey.
He was playing with his food when I wanted to be devoured. I ran my tongue over my fangs – and then he was on me, his hips pinning mine against the windowsill. His body straining against his velvet pants. He gripped my hips and lifted me onto the window then slid his hands down my thighs to force my legs around his hips. I wrapped my arms around his neck and slid my tongue into his mouth. I licked hard and rough so he’d know I didn’t want to be delicate.
My body was lifted off the window so I tightened my grip around his hips and it forced our bodies to roll together in a delicious way. We both moaned. I broke our kiss to sink my teeth into his bottom lip and pull. He groaned. I heard the sound of the curtain sliding and then the room was cast in darkness.
I saw nothing.
But I felt everything.
