Helga Schier, I’ll never be able to fully express how much you’ve done for me and this book and how thankful I am. You dedicated so much priceless time and energy to this project and the result is a better novel than I could have dreamed of. Thank you so much. Also, I must acknowledge Sue Arroyo for the work you’ve done at CamCat, in general, and with me and my writing specifically. Thank you for pursuing this book and singing its praises from day one. I’m so glad The Registration found its way to your hands.
Last, but CERTAINLY not least, thank you to my astonishing, hard-working, and compassionate agent, Julie Gwinn. One of the best days of my life was when you said you wanted to represent me. I can’t think of anyone else I would want in my corner, believing in this book and fighting for it. I so look forward to all the projects yet to come, and I hope for many more years of working alongside you and the amazing team at Seymour.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Madison Lawson writes speculative fiction novels full of suspense, social commentary, and complex relationships. Her work is represented by Julie Gwinn at the Seymour Agency. The Registration, published by CamCat Books, is her debut novel. Madison has published several short stories in literary journals such as Eckleburg and Water Soup. In 2019, she won the Koresh Award for a flash creative nonfiction piece titled “Share,” and in 2018 she won the Gordone Award for a creative nonfiction piece titled “Goats and Goodbyes.” Madison received her BA in English with a focus on Creative Writing from Texas A&M University and is in the process of earning her MA in English Literature from North Carolina State University.
Growing up in a small Texas town, Madison began exploring the world through the page so much that she often lost sleep to finish a book, got detention for writing a story in class, and convinced herself it was okay to read Harry Potter one more time. As her curiosity expanded, she began writing, reading, and traveling to discover the world, make new ones, and understand her own a bit better.
Madison currently resides in North Carolina with her dog, Teddy Lupin, and her friend and co-author on their upcoming trilogy Last Born, Mollee Gressley.
