Robert Redford, Philip Himberg, Ken Brecher, Robert Blacker, Beth Nathanson, Shirley Fishman, and the staff of the Sundance Theater Lab. They flew us to their beautiful oasis in the Utah mountains and gave us an artistic environment in which to work. Large sections of this play were written there.
In New York, Jim Nicola and New York Theatre Workshop for their belief in our work and their invitation to participate in their summer retreat at Dartmouth, where even more of this play was written. Dominick Balletta and Performance Associates for their guidance and work on our behalf. Lynne Soffer and Walton Wilson for their excellence.
In Denver, Donovan Marley, Barbara Sellers, Rick Barbour, Chris Wiger and everyone at the Denver Center Theatre Company for producing the World Premiere of The Laramie Project. They took on a play that was very much in progress—in fact, it had no third act—and gave us a home to finish it.
For their courageous support of the development of the play, we thank Joan Shigekawa and the Rockefeller Foundation, Rob Marx and the Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Jeanne M. Sullivan and Joseph P. Sullivan Foundation, Anne Milliken and Leon Levy.
Roy Gabay, Gayle Francis, Mara Isaacs, Hank Unger, Mike Rego, Matt Rego, John Hart and Jeff Sharp, who had the vision and knowhow to bring The Laramie Project to the New York stage.
Joe and Jeanne Sullivan, for their generous and unwavering support of our creative process.
Peter Cane and Joyce Katay for their continuous support and advice; Alan Schuster for his interest and his beautiful theater; and Kevin McAnarney for getting the word out.
