  28. About the Publisher

‘Exactly. I have contacts, which means I can get my hands on all the equipment we’ll need, microphones… speakers. That won’t be a problem.’

As Ella flicked through the book one last time, she saw a name she must have missed before. ‘And whoever Charlie Love is, there is a big heart around his name, so my guess is he’s a major player in this event. It looks like Dolores thinks very highly of him.’

‘Maybe it’s linked to his name: love… heart.’

‘Oh yes! Well put him down. If nothing else, he’s got a very cool name.’

They both looked at the flip-chart again. ‘That’s it, I think we’ve got our first list.’ Roman stood back and placed the marker pen on the table.

‘I can’t thank you enough, I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start.’

Roman tapped the flip-chart with his pen, then pointed at Ella. ‘Start at the top and get ringing.’

Ella looked alarmed and immediately brought her hands up to her chest. ‘M-me?’ she stuttered. ‘I can’t go talking to any of these people. I just couldn’t, I’d be too star struck. And why are you grinning at me?’

‘Because you can and you will. I’m willing to help with all the technical stuff, but you’re in full control of organising the guests.’

Ella watched as Roman walked over towards the dresser and picked up the landline. ‘Here, it’s still early. Let’s see if we can get any firm yeses before your TV interview tomorrow, because that will really get the publicity wheel turning.’

‘But Roman…’

Thinking back to last night, Ella found herself grinning as she made breakfast. She’d enjoyed spending time with Roman and she chuckled to herself as she remembered ordering him out of his very own living room whilst she rang the first number on the list.

‘And you are grinning because…?’ Callie walked into the kitchen and narrowed her eyes.

‘Because I’ve had the best night, and preparations are already underway for the big event. We already have confirmed artists that will knock everyone’s socks off…’

‘We?’ asked Callie, switching on the kettle.

‘Roman is helping to organise the technical stuff. Honestly, I’ve learnt so much about event management in the last twenty-four hours! I absolutely loved it, even though I was extremely nervous when I was talking to the artists, but everyone was so kind. Today’s plan is, after speaking with Dolores and Nancy, I’m going to upload a post on to the village community group page on Facebook, asking them to get involved with their own memories.’

‘You’ve got it all in hand.’ Callie looked impressed. ‘Maybe there’s a permanent job in this event planning but for all of Flynn Carter’s business empire.’
