The door to the room opens, and Wyatt steps in first. Even in the darkness, the mess that we made earlier is still visible, snacks and wrappers and crumbs left on the coffee table. I close the door behind me, leaning my body against it, watching Wyatt move quietly, still smiling at me softly.

We’re both faced with the reality that we’re alone again. Our eyes meet, and we stare at each other.

Just the two of us, in this room.

Before I even have time to wonder if we’re going to pick up where we left off, if we’re going to kiss again, maybe go further, or if we’re going to ignore what just happened, go to bed, pretend that it didn’t happen, Wyatt walks toward me.

Their hand finds my cheek so naturally as our lips meet again, as we lean into each other. Wyatt wants this as badly as I do; there’s an eagerness to their kisses, almost like they’re starved for something. It feels just like it did earlier. The taste of their mouth slightly chocolate from candy they ate.

I put my hands on their chest, feeling the way their heart speeds up under my right hand. It almost feels like it’s ready to burst out from underneath.

It feels so natural to kiss them, like it’s where we belong with each other. I fit so easily into them as they press me against the door, then I feel this sharp pain near the top of my ass.

“Ow!” I laugh into the kiss, and they pull away.

“Everything okay?”

“Yeah.” I look back. “The doorknob was stabbing me.”

We both laugh awkwardly.

“Maybe we could move somewhere more comfortable?” Wyatt suggests.

“Yeah, we should.” I take their hand. I don’t know if it’s because I know this is Wyatt’s first time, or because this just feels like my natural position, but I take the lead, escorting Wyatt to the bed and pushing them down, straddling my legs around theirs.

“You’re a good kisser,” I tell them, pulling their lips toward mine again.

“I like kissing you,” they say when we run out of breath, our chests heaving in sync. “I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time.”

I don’t know why this surprises me.

What is a long time? Days? Weeks? Months?

I hate that my mind lingers on that question; there are a lot more important things to deal with right now.

What does Wyatt want?

To keep kissing, to draw the line here?

Or does Wyatt want more?
