“I didn’t think you would. It’s just… you’re the only one who knows my secret. You know how my parents really died. That was the first thing that came to mind,” Rosalee said, softly.

I shook my head. “I can’t believe you just said that.”

“I’m sorry, Tinsley. I don’t know what to think. I can’t believe someone, some people, would ruin my party this way. Obviously, two of them are messing with me.”

I scooted closer to my cousin, tapping her elbow gently. “You just said I know your secret, so why would I need to remind you I know in an anonymous note which was going to be shared with these people, or your husband for that matter. I barely know him, or the rest of these women,” I said.

Rosalee chewed on her bottom lip, a habit she’d had ever since I met her.

She said, “I know. And I’m sorry for thinking that it was you. I shouldn’t have told you that, but you know I’m always honest with you.”

“Yeah…” I said.

“But I do think I know who wrote this one.” Rosalee pointed at the one that mentioned keeping Asher ‘sexually satisfied’.

“Georgia?” I guessed. I didn’t know Asher’s best friend well, but I’d immediately picked up on the tension between her and my cousin at dinner, especially coming from Rosalee.

Rosalee nodded and pointed at the typed words. “Obviously, Asher’s mom and sister aren’t messing around with him, and I don’t think you or Mara would do that to me. So, that only leaves Georgia. And I’ve suspected something was going on between her and Asher for a while now…”

“You have?” I said, flabbergasted. I’d noticed the tension between Asher and Georgia, but I hadn’t expected a possible affair. “Why would you agree to marry someone if you thought he was being unfaithful, Rosalee? That makes no sense.” My cousin was kind, beautiful, and talented. She deserved a man she could fully trust, and one who trusted her back.

Rosalee lowered her eyes. “Because I love him, okay? And because I wanted to trust him when he told me they were only friends. But then I found out that he recently bought a monthly membership to her new gym. And who else could have written that note?”

I scratched at a scab on my arm and tried to think hard about it. “What if…?”

Rosalee raised her eyebrows at me. “Don’t even suggest Mara…”
