Two days after his shoulder had been grazed (which Olivia yelled at him for saying every time, insisting he’d been shot), Nick, Olivia, and Luke all ended up at Adam’s for a much noisier Christmas dinner than he’d originally planned on having this year. He and Nick were going to just do a chill dinner this year, but Adam had insisted on them coming over.
Luke was glad for the distraction. Olivia had been ridden with guilt over his shoulder, even though he’d made the decision to rush in. He couldn’t even give her a hard time about going out into the parking lot alone, because she was already raking herself over the coals for it. Being around their friends and holiday cheer was just what she needed.
Especially because he truly was just fine now.
Not only were Adam and Angel there with Angel’s entire family, but the rest of their friends were constantly popping in as their own Christmas day activities finished. Apparently Adam’s was the place to end up at. Olivia privately told him that Adam liked having a full house of friends on the holidays because his divorced parents were so geographically spread out and tended to become upset when he chose between them for big holidays. So he just invited all his friends over and they all came to him.
Although Olivia admitted they didn’t always all show up. This year they did, dying to talk about everything that had gone down at Stronghold a couple days earlier. Luke was the hero of the hour, no matter how much Olivia muttered about how he’d better never do it again and fussed over his bandages. The graze hadn’t even been deep enough to need stitches. It was already healing really well and he pretty much had full movement, but that didn’t stop her.
Admittedly… he kind of liked being fussed over by her. But he really was fine.
Mostly he was relieved it was over. No more Roland. No more stalker. No more shit-gibbon. Kincaid had tracked down where Roland had been squatting, and the place had been filled with drugs and other firearms, none of which Roland had registered but which had shown up as reported stolen property. He was being charged with all sorts of things on top of attempted murder, assault, harassment, vandalism, etc. So far there had been no word of any assault charges being filed against Olivia for the way she’d pounded on him in the parking lot—Luke suspected Kincaid’s involvement with that. Roland had definitely seemed the type to file just to be an ass, even if he didn’t really have a case.
When Olivia asked him if there was anything he wanted for Christmas but hadn’t gotten yet, he did have one request…
