Regardless, he couldn’t help but be a bit annoyed.

After all, there was no way the man in front of him didn’t know he was a prostitute. (A pretend one in this case, but the point still stood.) Feeling suddenly defensive, Micah crossed his arms over his chest. “Yeah, well, I can’t exactly show off the goods under a puffy winter coat, can I?” he bit out sarcastically.

The strange man didn’t seem to have a response to that – he just continued to stare. It was unnerving. And maybe a little bit sexy.

Micah immediately did his best to block out that thought.

Another blast of cold air making its way down the alley did the trick. An involuntary shiver took hold of him, and Micah immediately tucked his hands up under his armpits in an effort to keep them warm.

“What?” Micah barked defensively when the man’s frown grew.

That word seemed to spur him into action. Abruptly, the man began unbuttoning his suit jacket. “Come here,” he commanded.

“Why?” Micah asked, half-horrified he was being propositioned by the guy who had just saved his ass, and half-hard in his pants because, well… it was cold, and the silk dress shirt the man was wearing under his suit did little to hide his pebbling nipples, alright?

Don’t judge him.

Micah was transfixed by the sight in front of him and had to fight back a yelp when the man suddenly took him by the arm and dragged him into his space. He immediately attempted to yank his limb free, but the man held fast. “What are you doing?”

The man’s actions were answer enough when he forced Micah’s arms through the sleeves of his jacket and tucked it around him. It was about two sizes too big and not nearly as toasty as the fur-lined parka he usually wore on nights like tonight, but Micah found his insides warming regardless.

He swallowed. “You don’t have to-”

“You hungry?” the man asked before Micah could tell him he didn’t need his jacket. After all, he wasn’t a real street walker.

Micah blinked. “Um, well-”

Once again, he did not give Micah the option to answer. “El Taco Rosa has the best tacos in Queens.”

Micah had no choice but to stumble along as the man pulled him out of the alley and manhandled him down the block.

“You okay?” Tessa whispered in his earpiece. Honestly, he’d forgotten that she was listening in. Realizing his friend was waiting for some kind of response, he hurriedly worked a hand through his hair – their predetermined signal that he had the situation under control.

Still, he knew she wouldn’t be happy if he allowed himself to be dragged away from the area they’d specifically chosen for their operation. She’d freak if he didn’t stay in her line of sight. (The alley had been bad enough.)

The reminder that he was still on the job made Micah plant his feet and abruptly yank his arm from the man’s grip.
