The noise attracted the girl’s attention, and she finally seemed to notice Micah. Her mouth parted in surprise for a moment before a tiny frown formed. “I see you’ve brought a guest. All of our suites are booked, but I’m sure I can find him an open room somewhere.”
“There’s no need. He’ll be staying with me.”
The girl blinked. “I- are you sure?”
Damon didn’t verbally respond, and Micah was standing behind him so he couldn’t see the face he made, but it must have conveyed his irritation well enough because the poor girl flushed before handing him a key card. “Here you are. Please, don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything at all.”
“I’ll be ringing room service shortly,” Damon informed her tersely before taking Micah by the elbow and dragging him towards what must have only been the elevators.
“You’re… you’re really rich, aren’t you?” Micah asked as he examined the man’s reflection staring back at him from the ridiculously shiny doors.
Damon didn’t respond beyond an amused quirk of the lips, but Micah supposed he didn’t have to. The fact that he had a standing reservation at The Mark spoke for itself.
The elevator released a pleasant chime before the doors opened.
The ride up to Damon’s suite was uneventful, and in only a few minutes, Damon was swiping his key card to let them in.
Micah literally tripped over his own feet when he saw the room. “Woah.”
He knew Damon was watching him to gauge his reaction, and that his eyes were probably bulging out of his head like a cartoon character as he stared, but he couldn’t help it.
The living room part of the suite alone was bigger than two of Micah’s apartments put together, and the vaulted ceiling and huge windows lining the back wall only made the room seem larger. It was obvious that it had been furnished with luxury in mind. An opulent white rug covered dark hardwood floors and was surrounded by a cream leather couch and two matching oversized chairs. Off to the right, Micah spotted a kitchenette with granite countertops that was filled to the brim with stainless steel appliances.
So this was how the other half lived.
Micah was broken out of his stupor when Damon continued on into the suite. Toeing off his shoes (he wasn’t about to ruin the white rug), he quickly followed.
“The bathroom’s down this way,” Damon said, leading Micah to one of two doors on the left side of the suite. The other must have been the bedroom. “Why don’t you clean yourself up? I’ll order dinner in the meanwhile.”
On one hand, Micah could choose to be offended that the man thought he was in need of a shower. On the other hand, he wasn’t about to turn down the chance to check out whatever kind of bathroom a place like this came equipped with.
“Okay,” he agreed easily enough, locking the door behind himself before examining his surroundings. Like the living area of the suite, the bathroom was decorated in monochrome. Light fixtures hung from the ceiling and fanciful sinks sat suspended atop the double vanity.
