‘Yudi, did you just say “love”?’

‘Maybe,’ Yudi said, pretending to look bored. I punched him playfully on the arm. He dodged and leaned over to lick some ice cream off my nose.

‘We’re in trouble, all right,’ he said as I laughed with him, gazing into his hazel-brown eyes. ‘But you know what? I think it’s going to be one hell of a ride!’

Dear Diary,

I know it’s been a while since I wrote to you. Well, three years, actually—but then, the last three years have probably been the most confusing ones of my life. But I’m starting over now, beginning a new chapter and what better way to start than penning it down, quite literally speaking, right? Besides, I’m going to need the writing practice as I begin this new phase.’ Coz starting next month, I, Megha Pandit, am beginning work on a new creative project at Blue Strawberry. Yup, you heard that right! After the hullabaloo over Bright Biscuits died down, I had a long, intense discussion with Shiv in which I honestly told him where my career interests lay. He was a little disappointed at first, I think, when I told him that my real interest lay in writing scripts and not developing market-cracking strategies, but he was pretty understanding and supportive overall. I think the fact that he had been quick to lay my head on the chopping block earlier, taken in by Suketu and Varun’s twin wiles, may have had something to do with it too. He was, well, repentant in a way and eager to make up for what had gone wrong. And so, after some discussion with the powers that be at Blue Strawberry, it has been decided that I am to go on a year’s deputation to Blue Strawberry as part of the creative team. Wheeeeee! It’s a dream come true, and the best part is I get one whole year to explore this opportunity! And if I don’t like it, I can always go back to GF. I don’t think that’s going to happen though. Something tells me that this time I have finally found my life’s true calling. This time, there aren’t going to be any second thoughts.

The Momster, Sammy and Rishi are really happy for me too and they have been hugely supportive of what is, if you really look at it, a pretty radical career switch. I guess they can see how happy this move is making me. We went out last night to celebrate and Vijay, Debbie and Yudi joined us too.

Vijay got his well-deserved promotion last week, and in his new role, will be moving to head part of the biscuits portfolio, which includes Bright Biscuits. It’s a heavy legacy to bear, he keeps telling me, and I keep telling him he’s going to totally rock. Bright Biscuits continues on its upward trend and is inching closer by the day to becoming the most successful new launch in GF in the last five years. I sure am going to miss working on that project. After all, it was pretty much what my life has been revolving around for the last couple of months. But it’s time to move on, I guess.
