Chapters (3)
Clarke just sank back against the generator. The altercation kept him alert for the moment and helped him fight the drowsiness. However, he was still tired, and hungry, and had hours to wait until the crew came in the morning. Not to mention the two bodies stinking up the air by his feet now. He flung them several feet away with his powers, but he would still have to explain the situation to the police in the morning.
That would be loads of fun.

The sun rose early the next morning. Clarke watched it over the hour as the beams of light stretched up to the tops of the buildings, then surpassed them, until the sunlight brought itself down onto Clarke himself. It warmed him slightly in his dirty trenchcoat.
Later in the morning though, a fleet of cars approached the hospital, mostly made up of police cruisers, though they were escorting the electricians. Right on schedule, Clarke was glad to see. He stood up, resting his hand on the generator, not at all surprised when the police drove up onto the lawn and jumped out, drawing their guns. Clarke readied himself just in case there was an idiot rookie amongst them.
The police wasted no time in doing their job, throwing a barrage of questions Clarke’s way. “Who are you?” “What are you doing here?” “Did you kill these men?!” “Step away from the generator!” “Get down on the ground! You’re under arrest!”
Clarke just leaned against the generator. It was once amusing to watch police try to control him when he could destroy them with little thought or passion. However, that was long ago. Now, he was bored as they acted tough, yelling as if they had to prove who had the least to compinsate for.
The clamor continued for another minute as the police established a perimeter, surrounding the lawn and to their knowledge, cutting off Clarke’s chances of escape. However, the noise only brought on a newcomer from inside the hospital.
Doctor Hall rushed out to the police perimeter, meeting a lowly officer and shouting at him. Clarke couldn’t hear her over the sirens and the police screaming for him to put his hands on his head, but once the officers gave way, Clarke knew what she was doing.
Doctor Hall ran to the senior officer in charge, cutting him off from his megaphone for a moment. The officer leaned over as she said something in his ear. After a short moment, his eyes widened and he brought the megaphone back up to his lips.
“ALL UNITS, STAND DOWN!” the senior officer ordered. “I REPEAT, STAND DOWN! THIS MAN IS NOT A THREAT!”
