The low light from her room put a soft glow around her as she stood there in a white sleep shirt decorated with a woman sitting on a massive stack of books under the words “so many books, so little time.” It stopped about mid-thigh and had a loose, low-scooped neck that showed off the tops of her pillowy tits. It had a faded stain near the hip that looked like it had survived through many washes. Her hair had gone wild and she had that soft, relaxed look of someone who’d just blasted their body with orgasmic happy hormones.
She was—without a doubt—the sexiest thing he’d ever seen.
“Mary Puppins! Groucho Barks!” she whisper-yelled as she tucked her loose hair behind her ears. “Get back here right now.”
That’s when she spotted him.
The whole world stopped on its axis in the time between one heartbeat and the next.
Whatever the woman did for fun, it should not be playing poker, because in that timeframe the expressions on her face went from shock to confusion to embarrassment that turned her cheeks pink to an annoyance that had him harder than that vibe she’d been using.
“Were you”—she let out a little squeak of embarrassment—“listening to me?”
Yep. Creep-O-Meter 2000 alert. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Really?” She wrapped her arms around her middle.
Fuck. This was why he should have gone back in his room and pretended he’d never heard anything.
“The dogs,” he said, stumbling over those two little words as the animals in question sprinted out of his room and back into Chelle’s. “They scratched at my door and then I heard—”
Her cheeks flushed an even brighter shade of pink. “The buzzing?”
He nodded. “Yeah.”
“How long did you listen?”
“Long enough.” Or not enough, or too long. Hell, he had no idea how to answer that one.
“Good night, Nash.” She started to turn but then stopped halfway and bit down on her bottom lip.
His pulse went to jackhammer speed, and all the air whooshed out of his lungs as he waited for whatever was coming next.
She peeked over at him, a nervous smile playing at her lips. “I suppose there’s only one way to make things even.”
Of all the things she could have said, he’d never even considered that. Still, his cock fucking ached at the possibilities as he tried—and failed—to come up with some kind of response.
