Keeping his promise to Alex, and finally living up to his father’s request, would be the first right thing he’d done in a long time.
Sam stepped out of the bathroom and he immediately noticed the blue and red lights flashing through the net curtains that hung across the window. A fist pounded against his door and he swept up his T-shirt and slid it over his head, pulling it down over his war-torn body as he reached for the handle.
‘Officers?’ Sam raised his eyebrows, then his hands, as two guns were pointed in his direction.
‘Sam Pope, you are under arrest.’
Hearing his real name caused Sam to freeze for a second. His identity had been discovered, and his mind immediately raced as to who could have tracked him down. Etheridge had built him an unbreachable electronic history, but somehow, someone had managed to see through it. Before his mind could run through the possible names, the first police officer reached forward, grabbed him by the arm, and spun him against the wall. Sam’s face collided with the brick, and he shot a glance beyond the other officer. Another police car was waiting, with an officer proudly holding a shotgun.
A clear insurance policy if Sam proved as dangerous as his legacy.
Beyond them, he noticed the black Range Rover, and immediately recognised Agent Joe Alan leaning casually against it, his sunglasses protecting his front row view from the beaming sun.
Alan had sent in the cavalry. Clearly, he knew how big of a problem Sam could be.
