I laughed at the thought. "Sure, I will." I looked at the other two who looked ready to sleep. "Are you two out?"
Kent looked at the other two. "Pussy number one!" He pointed at Mike. "And pussy number two." He pointed at Paul.
I bust out laughing.
Mike slapped his face and then Paul's. "Hell no, we ain’t no pussies! Game on!"
Kent put his head back against the seat with a smug grin. "That's what I'm talking about!" Kent put his arm around me, squeezing softly. "Bestest party ever, Elly.”
I pat his knee a couple of times. "That was the point." I grinned.
We arrived at Kent's house and piled out. I had asked Kent's mom to go over to my mom's house for the evening so we had the house to ourselves. The living room had been set up with bowls of chips, pretzels and Twizzlers in the middle. Four GameCube controllers were evenly spaced out and there were four shot glasses next to them.
"Okay!" I went to the fridge and pulled out a six pack, bringing it back to the table. "Rules are: If you land on a blue space, you take a drink, land on a red space everyone else takes a drink. If you land on a special space, you take two drinks. If you land on a Bowzer space, everyone else takes two drinks. In the mini games the winner takes a drink and if it’s a draw, everyone takes a drink. And you do a jello shot whenever there is a star. Got it?!" I uncapped four beers and then sat down on the single chair, leaving Kent wedged between Mike and Paul on the couch.
"What the hell are we playin'?"
"Mario Party… OH!" I turned on the GameCube and then grabbed my controller, sitting back. "And for the last three rounds all the drinks are doubled."
"You're going to be holding my hair later, Elly." Kent laughed as he picked up his controller.
My mind went to the gutter for some reason and my face flushed. I cleared my throat and stared at the large TV screen.
"Let's get this party started! Woo!" I hadn't seen Kent like this in a very long time and it made my heart happy.
Halfway through the game, three beers, and three shots later per person, Mike and Paul were passed out. Mike had claimed he had to use the bathroom and ended up laying down on the kitchen floor. Paul laughed and then fell to the side on the love seat. He didn't have enough energy to get back up. And then there were two...I landed on a blue space. "Dammit!" I picked up my beer and took a sip, a very modest sip, but he probably wasn't paying attention.
Kent chuckled as he took his turn and landed on special square.
