Tearing at the offensive white cravat he’d worn like a bloody sycophant, Lucien strode to the entry hall. He took his hat and gloves from Bender without a word and quit the house.

He bloody well would buy them out. The Foreign Office wasn’t going to tell him he couldn’t have Evie at the club. Her presence wouldn’t affect anything they sought to accomplish via the club. It could still host secret meetings and offer shelter to those in need. Nothing had to change.
