She had been so distracted by that fake sense of freedom that she had not realized that she was about to see his face. She had only heard his voice so far. And shed felt his punch. A hard one, right to her face. Her lips had busted and shed bitten down on her tongue. There had been so much blood from that little attack, she was convinced that it was the sight and the taste of her own blood that had caused her to black out and not the punch itself.
She stepped out of the trailer, taking a small step down from where the lip of the back opened up about a foot off of the ground.
Do you want some food? he asked.
She nodded, but could not stop herself from asking the first question out of her mouth. Are you going to kill me?

It was my dads, she thought. He killed them with the rifle and then stole it.
Again, she recalled hearing the gunshots. Right after her father told her to run…
Her thoughts were interrupted by several rampaging thoughts. Youve been through a pretty severe trauma. Can you remember anything else about the night he took you? Anything that will help you get free? You were barely aware enough to take off your jacket in the field… Youve been through the wringer, kid.
She looked at the rifle and figured for now it might just be better to do what he said. Besides…she had dropped her jacket in the field as she had come in and out of her haze. Maybe someone had found it. Maybe the cops were looking for her. Maybe…
