They arrived in town, and pulled up outside the club Sera had told her about. It must be popular going by the long line of people waiting to get in.
“It looks busy,” she said.
Sera turned off the engine. “Don’t worry about that. The Debrek name opens any lock.”
She winked at Amelia, and her car door was opened by a valet. A club security officer helped her out.
“Ms. Debrek. A pleasure to see you again.”
Another large man opened Amelia’s door and she got out gingerly, and walked around to Sera.
“Thank you, Troy,” Sera said. “This is Byron’s girlfriend, Amelia. We want to have some fun.”
Troy looked at Amelia with surprise. Everyone seemed to be surprised Byron was in a relationship. She didn’t know how to feel about that. Troy escorted them into the foyer of the club. As soon as Amelia walked through the doors, the thump of the music and the sounds of the electrifying atmosphere excited her. She hadn’t had a night out like this in a long time.
They walked into the main room of the club. It had a huge dance floor in the middle of the space, a bar running down one side of the room, and tables, chairs, booths, and couches all around the perimeter of the rest of the room.
About half of the clubbers were dressed up in costumes, mostly elaborate and scary, but the others angels.
A woman wearing the sexiest, skimpy outfit as well as two horns and claws walked up to them, and took Amelia’s hand. “Would you like to dance with the devil, beautiful?”
Amelia looked at an amused Sera in panic. “I—”
Sera stepped in to save Amelia’s stuttering refusal. “She’s spoken for, darling.” Then she leaned in closer to say with a smirk, “By someone who would eat you for breakfast.”
The sexy devil seemed to take the message and departed quickly.
“Thanks,” Amelia said. “I’m not really used to being chatted up.”
Sera laughed. “You’re adorable. I can see why my sister likes you.”
“Why is everyone dressed up?” Amelia asked.
“It’s Angels and Demons night. They have it once a month. Let’s go.”
Troy led them to the VIP area, where a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket was beside them within thirty seconds.
A young woman dressed in a revealing costume complete with angel’s wings poured them a drink. “Thank you, Ms. Angel,” Sera flirted.
Amelia chuckled. Sera was flash and glam just like her sister, and had immense confidence. She took a sip of her drink and watched Sera start to dance in her seat to the music. The next song started and Sera’s eyes lit up.
“I love this song.” Sera took her hand and pulled her to her feet.
“Where are we going?” Amelia asked.
“To dance, of course.”

Byron sat at the head of the table in the conference room. It was filling up with her guards, as they hurried to the basement for the quickly called meeting. Alexis had received some intelligence about the Dreds, and was about to inform them of the details.
