There was a wooden gazebo on the platform with a flat roof supported by intricately carved supports. The walls were long white silk curtains, now tied back, but presumably they could be closed for privacy. Along the roof and wooden supports were wound hundreds of fairy lights, like on a Christmas tree. It looked so beautiful, so romantic.

Even better was the sight of Byron waiting for her on the platform, dressed in dinner suit and bow tie, a sight that made her heart thud faster and faster. Byron was so gorgeous to her eyes.

When she got out of the cart and started down the walkway, Byron came forward to meet her. Amelia shivered when Byron’s gaze caressed her body.

Byron took Amelia’s hand and kissed it tenderly. “Miss Honey, you look absolutely ravishing.”

The way Amelia’s curves fit the dress made Byron truly wish to ravish her and taste her on the spot. She loved the way Amelia’s cheeks flushed every time she gave her a compliment. Most of the women she had encounters with in the past—models, socialites, businesswomen—expected people to shower them with praise.

Amelia was different. She seemed surprised by every compliment she got.

Amelia tweaked her bow tie, making sure it was done properly. “You’re looking very dapper yourself, Byron. Whoever makes your suits must be good,” Amelia joked.

Byron ran her fingers over Amelia’s collarbone, and her new diamond necklace. “Oh, she is. That’s why I like to keep her close to me.”

She offered Amelia her arm and led her onto the platform. There waiting for them was a dining table, richly laid out with silver cutlery, crystal glasses, and sparkling white linens.

There were three waitstaff, one behind each of their dining chairs and a third holding champagne and glasses on a silver platter.

“This is just perfect. So romantic,” Amelia said.

That made Byron smile. All she wanted to do was give Amelia a special time, a romantic time, and going by her hastening heartbeat, it was working.

Byron took her over to her seat and the waiter held out her chair. As soon as Amelia was seated, Byron quickly sat as well and nodded to the waiter to pour them each a glass of champagne.

“You really like it?” Byron asked as she reached across the table to take Amelia’s hand.

“Yes, it’s flash and glam just like you, but intimate, just you and me, just the way I want it.”

It gave Byron such contentment and fulfilment to make Amelia happy like this, and this feeling was something she would never get tired of. “I’m glad.” Byron picked up her champagne flute and said, “Let’s have a toast to new experiences, new pleasures, and spending time together.”

Amelia clinked her glass against hers, and gave her the small smile that melted her inhuman, centuries-old heart.

“Are you hungry?” Byron asked.

“Famished. I can’t wait to taste what your private chef has made for us.”

Another thing that made Amelia different from the models, actresses, and socialites she had dated casually. She would take them out for the most wonderful dinner and they would nibble a lettuce leaf, but not Amelia. She was as enthusiastic about food as she was about sex, and Byron loved that.
