- About the Author
He chuckled. “Fair enough. There’s a burner phone over by the desk. Take it with you and call your friend Bobbi. She promised not to call the cops on me if you phoned before midnight.”
Bobbi and Brian. Crap. Grace had forgotten all about them. “After I passed out in the restaurant, she must’ve been terrified when you just took me.”
He nodded. “She was, but I assured her you’d be okay and promised that you’d call. Did you remember anything while you were with her?”
Grace shook her head. “No. A lot of places and things felt familiar, but no memories came back.” Did it even matter any longer? “If this mating works tomorrow, I guess I’ll have plenty of time to remember.”
He sat forward and groaned. “Why don’t you go take care of that before I throw you on the rug and kiss you from head to toe?”
Her body jerked with a hell yes. “Okay. Concentrate on making antibodies somehow.” She had no clue how that worked, but if she didn’t leave, she’d rip off her own clothes. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” There had to be another room in this huge lodge where she could sleep. Leaving him in pain, she grabbed the phone and all but ran from the room. She hadn’t had sex in at least seven years. No doubt that explained this crazy hunger for him.
Yeah, right.
She tried never to lie to herself. It was Adare. She might not remember her entire life, but she’d never wanted anybody so badly. She was sure of it.
When she reached the game room, she fell into a chair to watch the snow falling outside. Quickly, she dialed the number she’d memorized for Bobbi.
“Hello? Hello?” Bobbi said breathlessly.
Grace winced. “Hey, Bobbi. It’s Grace. I’m fine.”
“Grace! God, I’ve been so worried. Bri and I are sitting here watching the clock and were about to call the police. I never should’ve let that humongous guy take you, but you said his name, and then you passed out, and he kind of took over.”
“He does that,” Grace said dryly.
Bobbi exhaled loudly. “Okay. You’re all right. That’s all that matters.” She was quiet for a moment. “You were out cold. What happened?”
Oops. She should’ve thought of an excuse. “Um, well, after the coma, sometimes I pass out for a while.” So much for being an accomplished liar. “I’m usually fine, but Adare panicked and brought me to the hospital.”
“Are you in the hospital now? We can come visit tomorrow morning,” Bobbi said.
Grace shook her head, trying to slam some sense into herself. She needed to focus. “No, I’m with Adare now. Just fine. Don’t worry.”
“He’s very, um, a lot,” Bobbi said tentatively. “Though seriously good looking. Like wow.”
