What are we going to do about the cats!

I’m not locking them up. That’s for sure.

Well, they can’t have the run of the whole trailer.

Why not?

Because you can’t control them! They do their business all over the place.

I don’t want to control them.

Then you’ll have to get rid of them.

I’m not getting rid of them either.

Then they’re just going to come and take your trailer again. That’s all there is to it.

Let them take it.

What will you do? Where are you going to go?

I’ll find something.

Me and Lois can’t take you. There’s just no room.

I’m not living with Lois.

Now Betty, she’s helped you out a lot. You know that.

When?

She’s been over there doing the same thing I was doing.

What was that?

Cleaning up, Betty. Cleaning up after the cats. She had the whole place done for you once. She put up a partition, a board, back by the kitchenette. She had that piece of plywood set up and all the cats were back in there and the first thing you did when you got back was you took the board down.

They can’t live like that. Trapped in the kitchen.

They weren’t trapped. They had plenty of room.

They were trapped. Lois hates those cats.

Oh, Betty—

What?

I don’t know. It’s either that or get rid of them.

I’m not getting rid of them.

You could get rid of some of them.

Which ones?

That gray one for instance.

Cricket?

Yes, Cricket. The hairless one.

You don’t like Cricket, do you?

It’s not a question of liking or—

He was born like that.

I know he was born like that!

You can’t blame him for that.

I’m not blaming him.

You said get rid of him.

I was just saying—if you wanted to get rid of some of them you could start with that one, since he’s got no hair.

There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s just different.

He’s got something. That’s not natural, for a cat to have no hair.

He’s never had hair.

Is it mange or something?

Mange is when the hair falls out. He’s never had any hair to fall out.

Well, it’s not healthy to keep a cat like that.

I’m not getting rid of Cricket.

Well, how about some of the other ones then. That orange one.

Which orange one?

That one with the funny stripe down his face.

Badger?

Is that his name? I don’t know.

Badger’s the daddy.

You ought to at least have him neutered then.

I’m not neutering Badger. He’s the daddy.

Then you’re just going to keep having more and more litters, Betty.
