I had a laundry list of reasons why I shouldn’t. Why I should climb off this bed, collect my weapons, and get the hell out of here.
I had no reason to roll around naked with the deadliest demon on Earth. Except one.
I wanted him more than I’d ever wanted anyone before. And I had a sneaky suspicion that I’d never want anyone this badly again. Despite everything he’d done, and continued to do, I ached for him.
It pissed me off. But it was the cold, hard truth.
I’d been trying to fight this for what felt like a lifetime, even though it had been less than two months. My willpower was strong, but not strong enough to be able to stare up at the wild, lethal man above me and not want him with everything I was.
“You look good in my bed, witchling. You always have.”
I scanned my surroundings. Samael’s bed was huge. It had to be, to comfortably fit his wings. At the thought of him lying naked, his wings spread around him, I shivered.
“Show me.”
He knew what I was asking. He dropped the shields keeping his wings invisible and I gawked unashamedly.
When they weren’t dripping sparks, they weren’t as scary. They were tucked in close to his body, and as I watched, he spread them for me. His expression was arrogant, and I got the feeling he was… preening.
I was… speechless at the sight of him. At some point, he’d ripped off his shirt, and the dim light lovingly highlighted the peaks and valleys of his sculpted muscle. His sharp cheekbones stood out like two blades as his face tightened, his hungry gaze exploring me in turn.
His wings should have stolen the show. There were no words for their color. Jet-black seemed like an understatement. Obsidian barely scratched the surface. They sucked up all the light in the room and reflected it back, making it difficult to pull my gaze away.
But his wicked, mesmerizing face drew my attention, and I couldn’t help but focus on his cruel mouth. I wanted that mouth on me.
I slowly brushed one finger along the edge of the closest feather as he silently watched me.
“You’re beautiful,” I admitted.
He nodded. “I know.”
I burst out laughing, and he took the opportunity to climb onto the bed with me and capture my mouth with his. His wings blocked out the light, and it was as if the world had disappeared, and we were the only two people who existed.
I’d seen his claws briefly before, but I wasn’t prepared for the way he ran a hand down my dress, slicing it open. I blinked up at him, stunned at the casual destruction of something so beautiful, but he was too busy staring at my breasts to pay any attention to my expression.
Typical male.
