His body lifted from the chair, straps snapping as I held him in the air. Fury blinded me, and I slammed him into the closest wall, again and again and again.

Sexual assault. He’d gone to prison for it. And now he was violating women again.

“Danica. Danica!”

I raised a hand and Vas was suddenly on the other side of my ward as I stepped closer to the piece of shit I was holding against the wall with my power. I palmed my knife and slid it down his cheek, opening his skin up as he let out a low moan.

“You fucked up, Clint.” I breathed. I couldn’t even recognize my voice. “And I want you to think of all the women you’ve traumatized throughout your useless life. Because I’m your karma, baby.”

Men who preyed on women had a history of it from the time they first learned what sex was.

Clint cried out and I laughed as I stabbed into him with my power, rummaging through his guts. I’d disembowel him slowly, and then I’d release the video from the camera in the corner of this room as a warning.

“Little witch,” a voice was crooning in my ear. When did Samael get here?

“Leave, demon.”

I could feel his amusement as he brushed up against me. When had he slipped beneath my ward? Had I dropped it?

“He’s almost dead, witchling. If this isn’t what you truly want, let him go.”

I slammed Clint into the wall again, and he let out a low groan, his eyes rolling up into his head. He bled from numerous wounds all over his body. The ropes of his intestines gleamed at me as I dropped him.

“That’s it,” Samael breathed. “Now pack your power away. I’ll help you.”

I turned. I’d dropped my ward at some point, likely because I was so focused on killing the worthless piece of shit at my feet. I wiped at my face and my hand came away red. I gazed down at it and then raised my head, my eyes meeting Samael’s.

Something like sorrow flashed across his face. “It’s okay,” he told me gently. “You’re okay.”

Vas was very quiet in the corner of the room. He nodded at me. “We have enough to go on. I’ll send the photo to Steve and Sitri for facial recognition.”

Power swept through me once more, only this time, Samael raised a ward between me and Vas.

“I’ll share her face, and nothing else, Danica,” Vas said carefully.

Of course he would. Vas was a good man. I needed to get control of myself somehow.

“We need Mike Brown, too.”

Vas nodded. “I’m on it.”

I turned back to Samael. He stepped closer. “Just close your eyes and visualize your power. That’s it.”
