“Uh… you’re not gonna kill him, right? Cause if so, we should probably wait until dark, and I’ll need to put my tarp back in my trunk.”
She sent me a withering look. “I’m not going to kill him. I’m just going to humiliate him a little. Maybe I’ll send our little video to his friends.”
Alrighty then.
Once we were within a few feet of his neighbor’s house. Evie held up her hand and squinted in concentration. The dull pop told me the spell had taken effect.
I frowned. “Why am I going to a black witch when you can do this shit?”
She trembled, already panting as she held the spell in place. “I can only do it for a few minutes. And we’ll talk about the black witch later.”
She crept forward and I trailed after her until she was standing on his porch steps and I was waiting below her, phone held up and ready to record.
She opened the bag and showed it to me. I frowned at her, disappointed.
“A spring-loaded dick bomb? That’s weak, Evie.”
She smiled at me. “Just wait.” She murmured a few words and the shape of the package changed, until it appeared to be nothing more than a small box.
It took power to mask an object like this. My sister was wasted on spells for her coven and pranks against her exes.
Evie turned, placed the package on the doorstep, and knocked on the door. Footsteps sounded, and I raised the phone.
The guy who answered was tall and lean, with shrewd gray eyes and the beginning of a five-o’clock shadow. His t-shirt clung to wide shoulders, and he had a surprisingly lush mouth. I could see why my sister had fallen for him.
Evie slowly backed down the porch steps as he leaned down and picked up the box.
I shook my head. Picking up an unmarked box was a good way to end up dead. The guy was clearly not just an asshole, he was also an idiot.
Evie stood next to me, her eyes narrowed as we both waited. Vic cast a glance around his front yard and shrugged. Then he opened the box.
Tiny, glittery cocks flew at him. A smile played around Evie’s mouth as they grew larger until they were at least a couple of inches tall, and I gaped as they formed tiny mouths and sharp stingers. They hovered in the air for one long moment. Just long enough for realization to dart across Vic’s face.
Then they attacked.
He screamed, swatting at them as they bit and stung. I looked at Evie and her smile widened as she met my eyes.
“Just enough to hurt, but not enough to leave a lasting mark,” she whispered. “He’s not worth ending up in front of the Mage Council.”
