MARCIA grudgingly gets out of the chair. Miss ENID wastes no time and jumps in. At that exact moment SHERELLE rushes in, with her briefcase and phone in her hand.
SHERELLE:
Novelette, I need to be in your chair and out of here in an hour! I got a lunch date at twelve and I got dinner at six and I’m meeting my sister at nine and some where in between all that I got to take a power nap. So let’s do this!
NOVELETTE:
Well. Let me tell you something Sherelle. I have just put Miss Enid in the chair, and I still have to finish off Milly. And there’s at least two more women before you. And Miss Brown just called and said she is sending her bad pickney over here any minute now and I still need to eat my lunch. And somewhere in between all of that Sherelle, I need to take a power nap.
SHERELLE:
Novelette! Could you not just squeeze me in please!
NOVELETTE:
Next week. I’ll put you down for my first appointment.
SHERELLE:

SHERELLE:
But Novelette, I can’t wait I—
NOVELETTE:
Sherelle, don’t wait then! I’ll see you next week, be here for seven am.
SHERELLE:
Novelette but I—
NOVELETTE:
Listen, Sherelle just because you have some big fancy job and some big fancy education that doesn’t mean you can come in here and tell me how to run my shop. I’m a career woman too. I know I couldn’t walk into your fancy office downtown without an appointment and demand Sherelle, see me now! No you would run me! Now I tired of you now! I’ll see you next week. Next week Sherelle! Next week!
A dejected SHERELLE exits the salon as the other women whisper who does she think she is… Lights fade on Salon and follow SHERELLE into her apartment. The phone rings and she answers it.
SHERELLE:
