She runs behind the counter and rummages through a pile of magazines. CLAUDETTE comes in and matter-of-factly hands her the magazine she is looking for. NOVELETTE grabs it and quickly runs back to the chair and hands the magazine to PATSY.
NOVELETTE:
Bam!
A startled PATSY jumps out of her chair everyone looks over in curiosity.
NOVELETTE:
(excited) Is this you or is this not you!
PATSY looks at the magazine disapprovingly.
PATSY:
This… is definitely not me. No no, Novelette, I’ll just have the same style that I get every week. A nice wash and set thanks.
NOVELETTE:
Oh come on Patsy, everybody needs a little change.
DIANA:
Change is good Patsy, Novelette is right.
PATSY:
No, No, I believe if it’s not broken don’t fix it.
NOVELETTE:
Patsy, I wouldn’t say it’s not broken! Come man! Come. Time for a change. Hey Claudette don’t you think it’s time Patsy change her look.
CLAUDETTE walks from behind the counter and whispers loudly in PATSY’s ear in order to prove her point.
CLAUDETTE:

PATSY:

NOVELETTE:
Church people talking about others how ungodly?
PATSY:
Novelette! Please. Could you just give me the same thing like every week. A nice wash and set. A simple uptwist, with three hairpins thanks. ‘Cause that will not suit me.
NOVELETTE:
Alright. But you know what Patsy, you cannot continue too resist change so it makes no sense worrying about it.
NOVELETTE touches PATSY’s hair. As her fingers root themselves deeply into PATSY’s hair, the GRIOTS sing a peaceful melody and PATSY walks into her light. A preacher’s voice is heard in the distance.
PATSY (PREACHER):
And the Lord says who shall believe in me will receive salvation.
The spotlight settles on PATSY who walks down to the edge of the stage.
PATSY:
