“Good,” he says before kissing me again. “Should we get going?” We both finish up the last of our ice cream and throw what’s left in the trash. He takes my hand in his again as we walk back to the Jeep. I check and make sure that Clover is still passed out in the trunk as Dax opens my door and I jump in.
There are butterflies in my stomach and I know I should squash these feelings. They aren’t emotional feelings. They’re fucking feelings. I just want his body on top of mine. Right? Right.
Dax keeps his hand on my thigh the whole drive back to my house, and I wish I could just keep this bitch in my car while I have my way with him. But she needs to be locked up and taken care of first. Though, carbon monoxide poisoning is a valid way to kill someone. Why am I feeling so murderous tonight?
When I park the Jeep in the garage, Dax looks at me with an eyebrow raised. “Want me to carry her to your basement?”
“If you don’t mind.”
We both get out of the Jeep and I open the trunk as Dax throws the traitor over his shoulder. I open the door to the main house. He isn’t able to cross the threshold, my wards physically stopping him from entering. I swear under my breath.
He arches an eyebrow at me.
“Wards. Are you okay with me taking a drop of your blood?”
He nods, and I’m glad that he isn’t weird about that. Using a conjured needle, I draw both a drop of his blood and Clover’s. When it drips over the threshold, I do a few chants to open the wards for my guests. He smiles when I gesture for him to walk through. Leading him to the door to the basement, I turn on the lights and he follows me.
“I was expecting a dungeon, not a fucking finished nice basement,” he says, laughing, and I shrug my shoulders.
I open the spare bedroom with the iron cast bed frame and have him lay her on the bed. Taking two silk ties, I wrap them around her wrists.
“I need to do a few spells to make sure she can’t get out. Do you want to wait in the living room? I shouldn’t be long.”
He kisses the side of my face and walks upstairs. Who knew kidnapping could be so romantic?
I spell her ties so that she shouldn’t be able to get out of them. I silence the room so no one can hear her screams, and I put a protection on the door so that Stevie and I are the only ones able to get in and out. Fortunately, there are no windows, so that won’t be a problem. She will be out for a few more hours, anyway. So I can enjoy the rest of my evening.
It takes me about fifteen minutes to make sure Clover isn’t going anywhere anytime soon as I walk upstairs to the living room. Seeing Dax sitting on my couch does something to me. His frame is large, and he looks relaxed with his legs spread as his gaze appreciates my decor. He’s licking what looks like chocolate off his fingers, and I gape at him.
