“What the fuck do you want, Lionel?” she asks the customer and I watch Asmodeus’ jaw drop.

“A fucking drink, that’s why I’m standing at this bar,” the man I now know as Lionel responds.

The pretty witch gives him a smirk, and I swear I can see her eyes shift color. Suddenly, Lionel’s stool breaks, and he goes crashing to the floor. His ass hitting the hard ground as he groans.

“Never mind, I want that one instead,” Asmodeus whispers in my ear, and I stiffen.

“Care to make a deal?” I say confidently.

His eyes twinkle when he turns on his barstool. “Whoever bags the witch gets the bragging rights when we capture this fucker,” Asmodeus says.

“Deal.” We shake hands and gray smoke intertwines between our clasped palms, sealing our bargain.

The dark-haired witch moves from her spot at the bar. She gives me a smirk. She has the cutest beauty mark above her lip and a crescent moon necklace around her throat that I want to grab. While beautiful, she almost looks like she has been crying, or yelling by how flushed her cheeks are.

“What can I get you, boys?” she asks in a raspy voice that shoots right to my dick. I down my drink so that I can order something new.

Chapter 3

4 Hours earlier

When I got back to Hex after meeting with Ryan I went home and changed into something more my style. I pat down the dark skirt and think about how I shouldn’t change the way I dress when I meet him, how ridiculous is that? Truly, I want to smack myself for realizing how much I change myself to fit what I think Ryan wants. What should I care what the human thinks of me? Then I remember his nose kisses and the fact he bought me flowers last week. No one has ever been so affectionate with me, and I never realized it was something that I craved desperately.

Pathetic, Blair.

I’m one of the most powerful witches I know, and I’m a shallow puddle for this basic white man. When the fuck did this become my life? Yet here I am, glowing like a schoolgirl over the fact that he wants me to meet his dad.

Swinging open the door to Hex, I’m greeted by my cousin’s beaming smile.

“Did you do it?”

“No, he wants me to meet his dad,” I say. Plopping my purse and twirling my finger, signaling Stevie to make me a drink.

“Blair! Break up with him. He’s turning you into someone you’re not. I know you think you crave his signature and I know you’re attracted to him. But is his affection worth it, if he doesn’t know the real you?”

“I just need some time,” I say.

“Well, what do you know about his dad?”

“Nothing, except they don’t have a good relationship.”

Stevie winces. “Do you think he just invited you to make things less awkward?” I blush and look down at the bar top.
