Kisa found Eisani in the VIP with their cousins from Philly. “Cuzo!” Eisani exclaimed, hugging Kisa with an almost empty bottle of rosé in her hand. “What you doing here?”

“I told you I was coming.”

“I thought you was fronting. You know how you do.” Eisani grinned. “What up though?”

“My husband showing his ass, so I decided to show mine.”

“Oh, so that’s it. Hubby got you heated. I knew your ass had to have a reason to be out.”

Kisa pointed at the bottle in Eisani’s hand, “I need one of those right now.”

“It’s two fresh bottles on the way out right now.”

At first Kisa sat at the table, constantly checking her phone to see if Sincere had called; but after a few glass of champagne she forgot all about that phone and was up dancing with her cousins. Once she’d polished off the rosé Kisa moved on to Grey Goose, her favorite. She was having a great time, and she realized how much she’d missed partying with the girls. It was the most fun she’d had in a very long time.

By 4:00 AM Kisa was twisted, so she opted out of joining Eisani and the girls for an afterclub meal at their favorite diner. Kisa said her good-byes, got into her vehicle, and let the top down. She hoped that the wind against her face would help sober her up for the drive home. Pulling away from the curb, she reached in her bag, grabbed her cell, and checked it for the first time in two hours. “Wow.” She laughed at the thirty-one missed calls and ten unread text messages. The phone rang. “Hello,” Kisa answered, with a slight giggle in her voice.

“Where the fuck have you been?” Sincere yelled.

“No, the better question is, where have you been?”

“Kane, stop playing.”

“I’m not playing, and I’m not telling you nothing until you explain what you were doing that kept you from answering my calls.”

“I was uptown with Butta gambling.”

“Bullshit!” Kisa snapped, and hung up.

Sincere called right back.

“Yeah, nigga, what is it?” she answered.

“I swear to God you gon’ make me choke your ass.”

“Whatever, my man. Go choke that bitch that kept you from answering your phone.”

“You bugging over nothing, yo. I’m telling you the truth. I was gambling.”

“If you were just gambling, why didn’t you answer your phone?”

“Because I left it in the car; we were standing right outside of the car shooting dice.”

“Yeah, right! You know I had a feeling that if we moved back here you was gon’be right back on the same bullshit with these hoes.”

“I’m not trying to hear that. Where the hell you at?”

“I’m on the way home.”

“And where have you been?”

“Out!”

“Out where?”

“You kill me,” Kisa said, “You wasn’t worried about where I was at while you were out doing you.”

Sincere sighed deeply. He was on the verge of losing it. “I’m not with the games, so cut it out already.”
