Chaz wasn’t alone when Kennedy arrived downtown at the apartment where she and Chaz resided when they were in New York—Sincere and Butta were there. Moreover, from the looks of things, they’d all finished off a big bottle of Hennessy.
“What up?” Kennedy asked as she walked into the living room.
“What up, Ken-Ken?” Sincere responded. “What’s it do?” Butta said.
Kennedy couldn’t help but notice that they all were looking at her a little funny, especially Chaz, who was clearly intoxicated. “Where’s Jordan?” Chaz asked Kennedy as she plopped down on the couch next to him.
“He’s at Auntie Karen’s. She wanted him spend the night before we leave for Charlotte. We can pick him on the way to the airport.”
“Aight, aight,” Chaz responded very sarcastically.
“It’s been real, my dude,” Sincere said as he stood up and gave Chaz a pound.
Butta did the same and told Chaz, “Can’t wait till that bachelor party next weekend, fam.”
“I can’t wait neither,” Chaz replied, while staring at Kennedy with a snarl on his face. Chaz got up to walk them out. When he came back to the couch, he asked Kennedy, “Where you been all day?”
“Uptown with Jordan.”
“What y’all do uptown?”
“I took him to the park, and I got up with Kane and Eisani.”
“Who else you got up with, and don’t even think about lying, ’cause I saw you up in that dread nigga face.”
Kennedy’s heart skipped a beat. “You followed me?”
“Hell no, I wasn’t following you. I met up with Sin, to pick up a wedding gift that I got for ya sneaky ass. He knew that Kane was meeting you at the park, so we came over to surprise you. But, to my fuckin’ surprise, you all up in some nigga’s face.” He slammed his glass down on the table, shattering it. “You betta start talkin’ right fuckin’ now, Kennedy!”
“That wasn’t some nigga,” Kennedy mumbled. “That was Jordan’s father.”
“Back the fuck up. What you say? I couldn’t hear you.”
“That was Brian, Jordan’s father. He’s been bothering me for the last two months to see him. Since we were here, I decided to let him meet Jordan.”
“Two months! Two fuckin’ months you been talking to that faggot, and you ain’t said shit to me? Why da fuck you didn’t tell me, huh?” Chaz mushed her head. “You must be fuckin’ him.” He mushed her a second time, causing her neck to pop back and forth like a spring.
“You buggin’, yo.” Kennedy stood up. “Don’t put your hands on me like that, and ain’t nobody fuckin’ nobody.”
“Bitch, you betta sit your ass back down,” Chaz said firmly.
“Who you calling a bitch?”
“You, you dumb bitch.”
“Fuck you, Chaz.”
“Nah, fuck you, Kennedy, ’cause that’s how you like a nigga to treat you. That nigga dragged you like shit, and you going behind my back to see him. You a pathetic bitch. I really feel like slapping the taste out your mouth. Since you waited a week before it’s time for us to get married to show your true colors, the wedding is off.” Chaz grabbed his keys off the table.
