Feeling that there was no point in delaying the inevitable, Osborn took in a deep breath, looked at his assembled followers, and went over the plan one more time. “We move out in four teams, just like we rehearsed. Lou, you and the Kid have the farthest to go. So you’ll leave first. We’ll give you thirty minutes from the time you leave to get set up. At the end of that thirty minutes, open up with your M-60 on the FBI compound. What you nail down there doesn’t much matter. Just raise as much hell as you can. Confusion and chaos is your sole purpose in life.”

Even in the dark, Osborn could see a sinister smile light up Lou’s face. Yeah, Osborn thought to himself, I picked the right man for that job. Turning next to the two brothers, he reminded them that they would follow him and one of the older men. “When I give you the word, you two will split off to the right and continue to move along the slope of this mountain until you’re overlooking the Federal position I marked on your map as Alpha. Once you hear Lou and the Kid open up, wait five seconds before you begin shooting. I’m hoping the Feds will pop up out of their holes like a pair of prairie dogs to see what’s going on and give you a good target. If they do, take your time and aim before you shoot.”

“And what do we do,” Rob asked, “if they don’t oblige us and stick their necks out?”

“Well then,” Osborn responded sarcastically, “I guess you’ll just have to pepper their hole and make sure they don’t change their minds and come up looking for the two of you.”

Not waiting for a response, Osborn turned his attention to the older men named Jordan and Albert. “The two of you will stay here. The post you’re after is just down there,” Osborn indicated pointing along the gully. “You won’t have any problem finding it. Like the brothers, wait until you hear Lou and then keep your marks from interfering with the breakout.”

When the two grim faced men nodded that they understood, Osborn turned to the last member of his undersized squad. “You and I have the hard part. We have to get up close and personal with the Feds in position Bravo and take them out. Once we’ve done that, I’ll make my way down to where the boys in the 5th Brigade are and lead them out through the hole we’ve made in the Feds’ perimeter. The success of our entire mission,” Osborn stated blandly as he shifted his attention to the others in the group, “rests with the ability of those assigned to keep the Feds at position Alpha and Charlie suppressed and unable to interfere with the evacuation of the compound. I’m hoping that Lou and the Kid will be able to create enough pandemonium with their leaders that we’ll be in and out before anyone at the FBI base camp can respond.”
