- About the Author
She holds my gaze after I drop my hand. “Did you go easy on my brother?”
“He held his own.”
She smirks. “But you kicked his ass?”
“Skiing is just infinitely superior to snowboarding, and yes, with that precision, I—”
She thumps me in the chest. “Meanie.”
“I’ll let you win a race with me every time.”
That makes her laugh, which makes me want to drag her into my arms and kiss her so deeply our heads both spin and we forget all about the slopes.
Later.
Soon enough.
All night long tonight.

It’s dark by the time we return to the luxury cabin the Gibbs have rented for the week.
Hard to believe only a day has passed since I arrived and my first impressions had me furious with Sienna for flouncing out on me like a spoiled brat.
She is a brat, a delightful one at that, but she’s not spoiled. She refuses her family’s meddling efforts at every turn, doesn’t depend on them for anything, and does not want their help finding a new job.
“Jake, any chance you need a new assistant?” Carina asks as we hang up our outer wear, being persistent even the face of her sister’s refusal of help.
Sienna’s eyes bulge at me, and I give her a private wink. “As a matter of fact, I do. But Sienna’s made it clear to me she doesn’t want to work for me, and I love that about her.”
“You do?” Sienna asks under her breath, sounding genuinely shocked.
“Of course.” I frown at her. “Why wouldn’t I?”
She grabs my hand and drags me up the stairs, ignoring the catcalls of her brother and sister.
“Talk more,” she demands as soon as we’re alone. “Because I thought you came here to convince me to come back to work for you.”
“I won’t deny that was part of my motivation for following you. You are the best part of my day. You are smart and young and clever, and I tripped over an enormous amount of luck that day you helped me with my website. I never want to let you go, Sienna, because you are simply incredible. But that’s about me and what I want, and none of that matters if it’s not what you want. More than anything else, I want you to be happy. If you don’t want to work for me, then we’ll figure out a plan that makes you happy.”
“That’s…really nice.” She licks her lips. “But you also said, I love that about her.”
“Same thing.”
“Is it?” She glares at me.
That makes me grin. “Yeah.”
“Jacob!”
“Jake.”
“Fuck yo—” She gasps as I scoop her up over my shoulder and carry her to the bed. “Sorry, sorry…”
