About The Dangerous Dandy PDF

Left all but penniless by the death of her husband, Lady Maude Camberley is reduced to scraping a living through gambling and the generosity of Society gentlemen. So when the stupendously wealthy but conceited and cruel Prince Ahmadi of Kahriz offers her ten thousand pounds for the hand in marriage of her young beautiful daughter, Alyna, she accepts at once.

Poor Alyna is utterly mortified and horrified as she finds the Prince utterly repulsive and could bear it if he touched her. Her mother will not listen to her pleas as she is frantic for the money the Prince has offered her.

Alyna is so desperate that she is on the verge of suicide when a handsome Good Samaritan dissuades her on the bank of the River Thames. He is the handsome and debonair Lord Dorrington, who is instantly struck by Alyna’s plight and he then sets about protecting her from the evil Prince’s clutches.

Alynda is adamant that she hates all men and will never marry, but gradually the noble good looks and gentle humour of Lord Dorrington helps to change her mind. And just as she realises that she is in love, the dastardly Prince reappears bent on revenge and she fears desperately for the life of her newfound love.

Who Was Barbara Cartland?

Dame Barbara Cartland was an English author whose long career made her one of the most recognizable names in popular romance fiction. She became particularly associated with historical love stories set in glamorous periods of British and European history. Her novels often placed personal feelings in conflict with social expectations, family obligations, and questions of reputation.

Cartland's style was distinctive. Rather than concentrating primarily on explicit romantic encounters, many of her stories emphasized courtship, emotional restraint, loyalty, courage, and the gradual development of affection between two people. Her heroines frequently faced difficult circumstances before discovering happiness, while her heroes were often challenged to prove their character and intentions.

Her public image was just as recognizable as her fiction. Cartland was famous for her glamorous appearance, bright pink clothing, and confident personality. She became a public figure whose interests extended beyond novels into interviews, charity work, health writing, and other projects.

A misunderstanding, an unwanted engagement, financial difficulties, or a family secret may threaten a couple's future before they learn to trust one another.

These stories appeal to readers who enjoy romance shaped by social history. The settings provide more than attractive scenery: they establish rules about marriage, reputation, inheritance, and personal independence that the characters must navigate.
